Let customers speak for us
from 173 reviewsI have been composting my own waste since 1999 and have used various systems and components. I rebuilt my urine diverting toilet system this last year and incorporated an Ejectortank and am a fan. It is simple and easy to use and worth what I paid for it and would purchase again. The signal float works great ( similar to a fishing float ) letting you know when it’s time to empty. This unit allows me to be able to quickly spray and fertilize trees, shrubs and grass nearby . The process to spray and empty the tank is quick once a pressurized hose is connected. The entire process takes maybe 10 minutes more or less. It’s important to remember that urine which is a form of ammonia nitrogen is well suited for plants and trees, but typically contains a lot of salts . The salts can be “too much” for plants so the ejector tank automatically dilutes the urine whereby it’s safe and beneficial. It should be noted that when spraying diluted human urine , you may get a slight odor which I find can linger in the area sprayed for maybe 8- 24 hours . I typically would not spray when I am having a backyard event but spray and empty the tank when no one is around for a day or so. The tank has ample storage and because it’s not inside the toilet itself there isn’t any “critical” time where the tank has to be emptied . The Ejector tank solves those problems and allows you to provide a beneficial amendment to your vegetation. I like these type systems as they do not require a multi million dollar treatment plant that then discharges treated water back in our lakes and rivers . Millions of dollars in chemicals are not required nor are millions of dollars in electricity needed to nitrify the ammonia . This type of system works well and is simple and affordable to use.
This is a much needed upgrade. The original spout going into the urine diverter did not fit properly and resulted in the rubber seal being destroyed over time. The new spout is PERFECT and now allows me to close the toilet without any friction.
Have not actually installed the product yet but I’m impressed with the sturdiness of it.
We are tiny home builders and use them in all of our tiny homes! Never received a complaint. We also personally used it in a tiny home we lived in full time and thought it worked great. Highly recommend
Not sure what to say other than great company with great products
No more dumping jugs and fighting odors. This beautiful toilet really is odor free, it's amazing! When you have 2 people living in a small cabin you need clean air. For me it was worth the price, it's improved my life. Thank you Separett
They work & last a long time. No strong smell.
This is a review of a toliet.. lets face it, who does reviews of toliets.
I used the Tiny, in my new MB 170 full van build. And boy am I glad that I did! The Tiny works so awesome.. I have it hidden in a pull out drawer, into the shower area, and it's hooked to a hose that goes down into the floor, and has vent underneeth my van. No smell.
The whole system works as too we are 'boondockers' and we're living off the grid.. And this toliet is awesome!
It took me a long time to look at the near 30 models, and over 50 choices, and I arrived at that this is the 'best' option. And, YES IT IS!
It's amazing simple, with things built in that you would have NEVER thought about. Trust me, this has features.
Yes, this is the part that did not come with my toilet
My issue was handled very promptly. I received a replacement piece within a weeks time. It was very easy to install, especially with the video sent. However, I did notice that I was supposed to have a urine drain cover straining plate that did not come with my toilet. Is it still possible to get one?
Great Product and fast fulfillment! Thanks!
Excellent purchase experience. Hard to believe it arrived so fast. We had planned to break open the box and install a few days after delivery but - Now we are in a Polar Vortex and temps below zero and we will hold off on hole in the wall installation and some old house steel water pipe cutting needed to remove the old water hog toilet. When temps rise, we are on it. Happy to have purchased this! If all goes well, we will be ordering a second one. Maybe a third.
Arrived quickly, worked like a charm. Just wish the original set had not needed replacement...

How Do Composting Toilets Work?
Composting toilets separate liquids from solids, diverting urine while solid waste is processed in a composting chamber. This method accelerates the breakdown of solid waste, turning it into compost while reducing odors. Separett’s advanced composting systems enhance this natural process with innovative technology, ensuring a clean and user-friendly experience. Waterless systems like ours are particularly effective in off-grid settings, offering both hygiene and convenience.
The most frequently asked questions about handling the waste
-
How is urine handled in a Separett urine-diverting toilet?
Separett urine-diverting toilets separate liquids and solids directly in the seat. Urine is directed to a dedicated outlet at the front of the toilet, while solid waste falls into a separate container. Because the liquids and solids are separated at the source, the system remains simpler to manage and more comfortable to use.
-
How does a compost toilet work?
Compost toilets operate on the principle of separating waste and facilitating composting. Solid waste is collected in a chamber while liquid waste is diverted away to prevent odors and facilitate proper composting. The solid waste is composted in an external composter and to speed up the process it's recommended to compost both garden waste, household waste and solids from a compost toilet together. Always check the regulations for composting at your local environmental agency.
-
Are compost toilets odorless?
When maintained correctly, compost toilets shouldn't produce foul odors. Proper separation of waste streams minimizes odors. Regular maintenance and following manufacturer guidelines ensure odor-free operation. This highlights the benefits of eco-friendly toilets in maintaining a fresh environment.
-
How often do I need to empty a compost toilet?
The frequency of emptying a compost toilet depends on the size of the container and the amount of users. See the technical information on the product detail page for your product.
-
Are compost toilets suitable for off-grid living?
Absolutely! Compost toilets are ideal for off-grid living as they don’t require water or connection to sewage systems. They offer an environmentally friendly sanitation solution, making them perfect for remote locations or sustainable living setups.
-
How much does a composting toilet cost?
The cost of a compost toilet can vary depending on the model and features. Separett offers a range of compost toilets for sale with prices that cater to different budgets and needs. Whether you are looking for a basic model or a more advanced system, we have options to suit every requirement.
